A shrink wrapping machine wraps the product in heat-shrinkable plastic film, seals and cuts the film and shrinks it tightly around the product in a hot-air tunnel. Beijing Runda's fully automatic models pack 80–120 products per minute. In this guide we review the shrink wrapping machines of Beijing Runda, for which we are the official distributor, and the cover folding, stacking and collating machines at the end of the book production line, using data from the manufacturer's catalogue.
How does a shrink wrapping machine work?
Runda's automatic shrink wrappers consist of four units and can be arranged flexibly to suit the site layout:
- Feeding table: Products enter the line on a belt or push-bar conveyor.
- Automatic sealing and cutting unit: The film is wrapped around the product; a reciprocating horizontal knife seals and cuts the film either while tracking the product (follow-up cutting) or at a fixed position (positioning cutting).
- Shrink tunnel: A hot-air circulation tunnel heats the film and shrinks it onto the product.
- Collecting table: Packed products are collected automatically.
These machines pack products of different sizes, such as books and book sets, digital products, cosmetics, health supplements and tea gift boxes.

T-120s and T-100s: auto-tracking high-speed shrink wrapping
The T-120s is the fastest model in the range at 120 pieces per minute. Its main conveyor belt expands and contracts automatically to connect products without gaps, which makes it well suited to small items. The fully servo-controlled system starts with one click and interconnects with other machines on the line.
The T-100s offers continuous and gap sealing modes and works with POF and PE film. Because the side knife sits at the front, sealing continues without pauses, with no openings and no film slipping; according to the manufacturer, film waste falls by about 50%. A photoelectric system detects product length automatically, so products can be placed randomly. The tunnel's bottom circulation system uses heat efficiently; air direction and volume are adjustable, and a standby protection function extends machine life. Package height reaches 300 mm.

S-700, T-8025 and T-80: large and tall products
The S-700 packs large products up to 700 mm wide and 300 mm high at 100 pieces per minute; while the product moves continuously, the horizontal knife tracks it and seals. For tall products the T-8025 (280 mm) and for general use the T-80 (150 mm) run at 80 pieces per minute: an electric eye and timer set the sealing position to the product length, and two groups of horizontal and vertical electric eyes keep cutting accurate. The Teflon-coated, constant-temperature knife cuts at up to 1 metre per second without sticking to the film, and double-layer insulation curtains in the tunnel save energy and heat evenly. The electrical controls use Panasonic, Omron and ifm components.

P-1.0: premium shrink wrapping with corner and edge cutting
The P-1.0 is designed for high-quality shrink packaging of box-type products such as digital products, cosmetics, health supplements and tea gift boxes. It uses POF cross-linked film with high transparency, good gloss and a high shrink rate. Unlike traditional methods, it removes the excess film at the four corners; the seal line stays centred and straight, with no bulges or overlaps. It connects directly to the production line and packs 0–750 boxes per hour; a formula-based touch screen switches products with one touch.

The end of the book line: cover folding, stacking and collating
Runda's second specialism is post-binding book processing. Book cover folding and fore-edge trimming machines, used on paperbacks after perfect binding, trim the front edge of the book block, crease the cover and fold it, completing all three steps in one go.

| Value | GLK320-S | GLK320 / GLK320-L | ZK320 |

The GLK320-S and GLK320 connect inline to a perfect binding line; the GLK320 comes in three versions: off-line, semi-line and full-line.
| Model | Operation | Max. speed | Size |
|---|---|---|---|
| S-280 | High-speed book stacking (top-to-bottom servo stacking) | 100 books/min | 140 × 210 – 260 × 300 mm, 8–40 mm, stack 280 mm |
| MD280-G | Book stacking (bottom-up, virtually no wear) | 90 books/min | 120 × 180 – 260 × 300 mm, 8–60 mm, stack 280 mm |
| PS-6000 | Intelligent book collating (set building) | 6,000 sets/h | 120 × 140 × 1 – 300 × 300 × 30 mm |
| V-150 | Automatic book jacketing and belly banding, card insertion | 7,000 books/h | 140 × 210 – 210 × 297 × 30 mm |
| ST-500 | Labelling after shrink wrapping | 500 pcs/min | Unlimited × 400 × 200 mm |
| ZY440-A(B) | Automatic blocking (page and endpaper pasting) | 4,800 pages/h | 155 × 100 – 440 × 300 mm |
The PS-6000 processes paperback and hardcover books and works inline with a shrink wrapper; power is 3.25 kW with 4 stations and 6.25 kW with 10/12 stations. On the ZY440, single sheets must be at least 60 g/m².

On a typical book packaging line, the PS-6000 collates the book set in the correct order, the shrink wrapper packs the set and the ST-500 applies the label precisely after the film is punched. The ST-500 is designed to solve the problem of film that is hard to remove after shrink wrapping, reduce the risk of injury and prevent damage to the product. The V-150 fits book jackets and belly bands while inserting postcards or information cards at the same time; an automatic stop button at each step reduces the waste rate.

6 criteria for choosing the right shrink wrapping machine
- Product size: T series for widths up to 400 mm, S-700 up to 700 mm; height is 150 mm on the T-80, 200 mm on the T-120s, 280 mm on the T-8025 and 300 mm on the T-100s and S-700.
- Real output: A machine packing 100 products per minute packs 100 × 60 × 8 × 0.85 = 40,800 products in 8 hours at 85% efficiency.
- Film and waste: POF and PE compatibility and continuous sealing determine film consumption; for the T-100s the manufacturer states film waste falls by about 50%.
- Appearance: For cosmetics and gift boxes needing clean corners and a centred seal, choose the P-1.0 with corner and edge cutting.
- Line integration: Collating (PS-6000), shrink wrapping and labelling (ST-500) can be set up as one line started with one key; stackers connect to high-speed book lines.
- Energy and layout: Bottom-circulation or double-curtain insulated tunnels lower energy use; the four units can be positioned separately, and line length is 7.85–9.5 m.

Frequently asked questions
The Beijing Runda T-120s packs 120 products per minute, the T-100s and S-700 100, and the T-8025 and T-80 80. The P-1.0, which makes premium packs with corner and edge cutting, runs at 0–750 boxes per hour.
The product moves from the feeding table to the sealing and cutting unit, where film is wrapped around it and sealed and cut by a horizontal knife. A hot-air circulation tunnel then heats the film and shrinks it onto the product, and the pack goes to the collecting table.
The Runda T-100s works with POF and PE film, with a choice of continuous or gap sealing modes. The P-1.0 uses POF cross-linked shrink film with high transparency and a high shrink rate.
Yes. The Beijing Runda S-700 packs products up to 700 mm wide and 300 mm high at 100 pieces per minute. For tall products the T-8025 reaches 280 mm and the T-100s 300 mm package height; product length is unlimited.
The Runda PS-6000 intelligent collating machine builds the book set in the correct order at 6,000 sets per hour and works inline with the shrink wrapper. Packed sets are labelled on the ST-500 labelling machine after the film is punched.
On a perfect-bound paperback, it trims the front edge of the book block, creases the cover and folds it. The Runda GLK320-S processes 5,500 books per hour, the GLK320 80 books per minute and the ZK320 55 books per minute.
