N+P Unit, Heidelberg GTO 46 The N+P Unit featured on the Heidelberg GTO 46 is a Numbering and Perforating system. In the GTO 46 series, one of the most durable small-format presses in printing history, this unit engages immediately after the offset printing process is completed, before the sheet is ejected from the press's delivery section (chain delivery). It completes both the numbering of official or trackable documents such as invoices, receipts, tickets, and delivery notes, and the creation of perforated lines for easy tearing, all in a single pass.

  • Maximum Working Area: In line with the physical design of the GTO 46 model, the maximum numbering and perforating area of the N+P unit is limited to 320 mm × 460 mm.
  • Inline Production Advantage: While offset printing is performed in the machine’s main units, this attachment connected to the delivery section prints numbers and creates perforation lines in the same pass, without stopping the press.
  • Independent Inking System: The unit has its own small set of inking rollers and ink fountain, operating completely independently of the main offset printing cylinders and ink fountain.
  • Mechanical Numbering Heads: Mounted on the shaft, the numbering heads strike a mechanical trip lever (pawl) on the unit with each sheet pass, automatically advancing sequentially (0001, 0002, 0003...).
  • 360-Degree Angle and Position Adjustment: The numbering heads can be positioned by sliding them left or right along the shaft and can be mounted horizontally or vertically, depending on the orientation of the job.
  • Multiple-Head Operation: Multiple numbering heads can be arranged across the width of the shaft, side by side or one below another on the same sheet, allowing multiple numbers to be printed in a single pass.
  • Circular Perforating Blades: Round, serrated perforating discs mounted on the shaft create clean, uniform tear-off perforations as the paper passes through at high speed.
  • Creasing and Scoring Option: By replacing the perforating blades with smooth scoring discs, crease lines can also be applied to make items such as brochures or folders easier to fold.
  • Swing-Away Feature: When the unit is not in use, it does not need to be completely removed from the machine; its mechanical arms allow it to swing upward and backward so that normal offset printing can continue unobstructed.
  • Plus (+) Version Requirement: For this unit to be physically installed on a Heidelberg GTO 46 press, the machine must have the original factory-installed GTO 46+ (Plus) configuration, including the drive gear in the delivery section required to power the unit and the corresponding frame mounting points.
