A screen printing machine transfers ink, UV varnish or adhesive onto the sheet through a fine-mesh screen with a squeegee; because it can print only the areas required, it is used for spot UV varnish, cold foil stamping and hologram effects. Ketchview's automatic lines run at up to 4,000 sheets per hour. In this guide we review the screen printing, spot UV, cold foil stamping and UV drying machines of Ketchview, for which we have been the official distributor in Türkiye and the Turkic Republics since 2024, using data from the manufacturer's catalogue.
How are spot UV, cold foil and hologram effects made by screen printing?
The manufacturer states that screen-printed cold foil stamping combines the high adhesion of screen printing with the texture of foil stamping, giving a strong tactile feel and a shiny look. On a fully automatic line the process generally runs in this order:
- Feeding: The printed sheet enters the line and is registered to the printing position.
- Screen printing: UV varnish or adhesive is printed through the screen only onto the areas where the effect is wanted (spot printing).
- Cold foil or hologram transfer: Cold foil or hologram film is pressed onto these areas; when the film is lifted, the effect stays only where there is varnish or adhesive (hologram/cast & cure).
- UV curing: UV lamps harden the varnish and adhesive within seconds.
- Delivery and stacking: Cured sheets are stacked, ready for next steps such as die-cutting and folding.

Application areas highlighted by the manufacturer: tobacco and alcoholic beverage packaging, cosmetics, pharmaceutical boxes and gift boxes.
GUVY-76/106: spot UV, cold foil and hologram line
The GUVY-76/106 series combines automatic screen printing with spot UV coating, cold foil stamping and hologram transfer on one line. The 76 and 106 in the model name show the sheet format, while AS, CS and ACS show the operations the line performs. Maximum speed is 4,000 sheets per hour on all models.

Minimum working size is 546 × 393 mm on all models; maximum speed is 4,000 sheets per hour. According to the manufacturer, maximum speed depends on paper size, printing size, UV varnish, cold foil and holographic foil.
Line length ranges from 6.4 to 9.0 metres depending on the model; the most complete GUVY-106ACS measures 9.0 × 3.0 × 3.8 m. Planning the layout from the start matters for film roll changes and operator access.
GST and GSP: automatic screen printing machines
The GST series is a fully automatic screen printing machine built on the mature technology of offset printing and working on the classic stop-cylinder principle. It does not only apply spot UV varnish; it also prints single and multiple colours with various UV inks, and its main application is paper packaging printing.

The GST1050 reaches a maximum of 4,000 pieces per hour. Non-stop feeding and non-stop printing technology eliminate the time loss and paper waste of feeding and delivery; according to the manufacturer, the machine's overall printing efficiency has increased by 30% as a result. UV tubes can be switched on and off individually according to the degree of drying, and the paper section is controlled by photoelectric detection. The line suits ceramic and glass decoration paper, advertising, packaging, signage, textile and electronics screen printing.

UV drying: the GUV/IR multi-function dryer
The GUV/IR series is used for drying UV inks printed on paper, PCB, PEC and nameplates for instruments. It uses a special wavelength to cure the ink, giving the printed surface increased hardness, brightness and resistance to abrasion and solvents. The conveyor belt is made of Teflon imported from the USA and withstands high temperature, abrasion and radiation.

A stepless speed adjuster ensures easy and steady operation, suitable for manual, semi-automatic and high-speed automatic printing modes. Two sets of air blowers hold the paper firmly on the belt. The machine can work with a single lamp, multiple lamps or stepless adjustment from 10% to 100%; according to the manufacturer, this saves electricity and extends lamp life. A stretching device and an automatic rectifying device are easily adjusted.
GLT series cold foil stamping unit
The GLT cold foil stamping unit connects to a semi-automatic or fully automatic screen printing machine to complete the cold foil stamping process. This makes it possible to add cold foil capability to an existing screen press.

6 criteria for choosing the right screen printing machine
- Effect: GST or GSP for spot UV only; GUVY AS for hologram, GUVY CS for cold foil, GUVY ACS for both; GLT to add cold foil to an existing screen press.
- Sheet format: The 76 / 780 / 800 format for 70 × 50 cm class sheets, the 106 / 1050 / 1060 format for 70 × 100 cm; GST1300, GST1450 or GSP1650 for larger sheets.
- Paper weight: GUVY AS handles 90–450 g/m², CS and ACS 128–450 g/m², and GLT 157–450 g/m²; these lower limits matter if you print on thin paper.
- Real output: A line printing 4,000 sheets per hour processes 4,000 × 8 × 0.7 = 22,400 sheets in 8 hours at 70% efficiency. For cold foil, GLT's working speed is 500–1,200 pieces per hour, so 4,000–9,600 sheets should be planned for the same period.
- Drying: The number and power of UV lamps (8 kW × 3 on the GUV900, 15 kW × 3 on the GUV1650) determine line speed and cure quality; stepless 10–100% lamp power adjustment lowers energy use.
- Space and film: GUVY lines are 6.4–9.0 m long; film roll diameter (Φ400–500 mm) affects how often rolls are changed.

Frequently asked questions
Ketchview GUVY-76/106 lines and the GST1050 and GST1300 print up to 4,000 sheets per hour. The GST720/800 reaches 3,500, the GST900 3,200 and the GST1450 2,800 pieces; the GSP series runs at 2,000–3,300 pieces per hour. Real speed depends on paper and print size and on the varnish and foil type.
Spot UV varnish is UV-cured varnish applied only to selected areas rather than the whole sheet; logos, text or images look glossy and raised. The screen printing machine prints the varnish onto these areas through the screen, and the UV dryer hardens it within seconds.
In hot foil stamping, a heated metal die transfers foil onto the sheet under pressure; this is done on die-cutting and foil stamping machines. In screen-printed cold foil, adhesive is printed through a screen, foil film is pressed onto these areas and fixed with UV; no heated die is needed. Ketchview GUVY CS/ACS lines and the GLT unit are used for cold foil.
In the hologram (cast & cure) method, UV varnish is screen-printed, hologram film is pressed onto it and cured with UV; when the film is lifted, the holographic pattern remains in the varnish. The Ketchview GUVY-76AS, 106AS and ACS models perform this on an automatic line.
Ketchview GUVY AS models handle 90–450 g/m², and CS and ACS models 128–450 g/m². The GST series works between 90 and 450 g/m² depending on the model, the GSP series 90–350 g/m², and the GLT cold foil unit 157–450 g/m².
UV varnish, ink and adhesive only harden when cured with UV light. Ketchview GUV/IR dryers use a special wavelength to give the print hardness, brightness and resistance to abrasion and solvents; they work at 900–1700 mm widths and 0–65 m/min belt speed.
